The Orange Peel + Broken Social Scene = Yes

A magical night of musical prowess from the Canadian indie rockers

Indie rock legends Broken Social Scene popped into Asheville last Thursday night along with lively openers The Belle Game. As usual, the vibes in the Orange Peel were mellow but there was a definite excitement in the air. I mean after all, one of the biggest acts ever was about to take the stage. You could feel the energy all around the floor as the crowd was gearing up for what would be one of the most solid musical nights of the entire year.

Broken Social Scene heads to The Orange Peel

The indie legends themselves get ready to rock AVL

This Thursday night the acclaimed Canadian collective known as Broken Social Scene will head back to The Orange Peel for the first time since 2010. This past summer they released their fifth studio album entitled Hug Of Thunder, it's their first album in seven years and one listen to it shows that they are fully back in action.

Brother Oliver and Triptych Soul rock ISIS Music Hall

Both bands put on one heck of a show

The main stage at ISIS Music Hall was all Brother Oliver this past Thursday night for their show with Triptych Soul. The Greenville based brothers were kicking off their East Coast tour at the cozy West Asheville venue and looked cool as ever up on stage playing new and old songs alike. Their new self-titled album was coming out the day after and their excitement for the world to hear it was visible in their energetic performance.

Checking in with Brother Oliver

The folky bros gear up to play ISIS and drop their new album

I got a chance to speak with Andrew Oliver from the psychedelic folk-rock band Brother Oliver, which is a music project that he and his brother Stephen started back in 2011. The brothers have a big show this Thursday evening at ISIS Music Hall along with Triptych Soul that will mark the start of their East Coast tour. To make things even more exciting, the day after the show their self-titled third album comes out for all the world to hear!
